BIM stands for Building Information Modeling. The definition is as follows:
“Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. A BIM is a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle; defined as existing from earliest conception to demolition.”
BIM is a relatively new engineering discipline that many large & medium size General Contractors & Engineering firm’s employ.
Sky Sight Imaging can assist GCs & engineers with BIM related data. We can tailor an aerial inspection program where we will fly your construction site on a regular basis and provide time-sensitive data about the progress of the job.
NEW!!! PIX4D BIM
Pix4D is the gold standard in photogrammetry software. Pix4D has chosen Sky Sight Imaging to participate in a pilot program that is testing out its new software product PIX4D BIM and its new construction crane camera.
The CRANE CAM is a special camera that is installed on typical tower crane. This camera is pointed straight down and is triggered by the movement of the crane as it spins throughout the day. At the end of the day, all imagery data is streamed into the Pix4D cloud for processing. Overnight the imagery is processed and loaded into the Pix4D BIM software. Those that have a “seat” will be able to view the 2D ortho and 3D point cloud. This will allow for management, engineers, lenders, investors, etc. to view the daily progress of the job site. Linear & volumetric measurements can be easily taken within the software. Pix4D BIM and the Tower Cam is going to revolutionize the inspection process for major construction projects.
Sky Sight will have its first Tower Cam installed in mid-March 2017 on a Mid Town Atlanta construction project. Please check back here often for updates on this project or contact Sky Sight today.
